The system may be manually turned off at any moment for the length of a journey if the circumstances call for it if the driver so chooses. Only the UX Hybrid is equipped with an automated engine start/stop system from Lexus; the other UX models do not have a disable option or button.

When less engine cooling is required, the Escape's front grille utilizes electronically controlled shutters to block airflow and reduce drag. This enhances highway fuel efficiency. Active grille shutters are not available for the UX.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration puts brand-new automobiles through rigorous testing in frontal and side impact collisions. Ford Escape performed better overall in these tests than Lexus UX, which increases the risk of bodily injury for Lexus UX drivers in the event of a collision.

Performance

The Ford Escape's standard 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder engine can produce up to 181 horsepower, which is a significant amount of power. The standard 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder engine in the UX 200 only has a maximum horsepower of 169.
