Design & Style

The 2022 Ford Mustang exterior measures 188.6 inches overall, a far better size than what the 2022 Toyota GR86 offers at a little bit over 167 inches. Width size is also better for the Ford than its Toyota counterpart.

The 2022 Ford Mustang uses a user-friendly infotainment setup with six speakers fitted as standard. Its SYNC infotainment system is voice-controlled as well, and it has the Ford PassConnect that can make you access lock controls from your smartphone. Wi-Fi hot spot is also standard in the ride. When it comes to safety, it boasts of a whole lot including rear cross traffic alert, pedestrian detection, and forward collision warning, among others.

With a working infotainment system, one can be easily satisfied with what the Toyota offers. That said, however, it is noticeable that these technologies are not as thrilling as the more modern offerings of other sports cars out there. It is just simply behind the times. Safety wise, it is a disappointment that it only offers a rearview camera and adaptive headlights as standard.

Performance

The 2022 Mustang defeats the GR86 in terms of mileage in both highway and city driving. The Mustang rates 21 mpg and 29 mpg for city and highway driving, respectively beating that of the GR86's 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway results. The Mustang also rates well with a 310-horsepower engine with the Toyota only scoring up to 228 horsepower for its base.

The Bottom Line

These two have good scores in terms of appearance, design, and style. Nonetheless, the comparison shows that technologies and performance are better in the Mustang than its Toyota counterpart. That is  more than enough reason to choose the Ford.
