The 2022 Ford Escape is a popular vehicle, and it's easy to see why. The SUV has all the comfort and versatility you could want, and it also has some impressive safety ratings. Several different trims are available for this vehicle, including the SE and SEL trims.
The 2022 Subaru Forester offers the same features as its competitors at a lower price point. It also has impressive safety ratings and plenty of space inside, thanks to its large interior dimensions. This vehicle comes in three different trims: L, XLS, and XT Limited.

The Ford Escape interior is familiar, with simple controls and surfaces that are easy to clean. The 2022 Escape's design was attractive and modern, but we expect the 2022 version to be even more attractive. We're looking forward to seeing how the new Bronco Sport compares.
The Forester has a larger interior than the Bronco Sport or the Escape, which might be better for families on long trips. However, we still think the Bronco Sport will feel more spacious than its competitors when you're driving around town or running errands on weekends—and if you want something bigger and more family-friendly, there's always something else in Ford's lineup (like its Explorer SUV).
Technology & Safety
The 2022 Ford Escape is equipped with standard rearview camera, while the 2022 Subaru Forester has an optional backup camera. Neither SUV offers a blind spot monitoring system, which alerts you when there is a vehicle in your blind spots. The 2022 Ford Escape has an optional automatic parking system that parallel parks the vehicle for you, while the 2022 Subaru Forester doesn't offer this feature.
The 2022 Ford Escape has a standard anti-theft alarm to deter thieves from breaking into your new car, while the 2022 Subaru Forester doesn't offer one.
Performance
When it comes to engine performance, the 2022 Ford Escape is a bit more powerful than the 2022 Subaru Forester. The Escape’s 2.0L 4-cylinder engine has 168 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque, while Forester’s 2.5L 4-cylinder engine only has 152 hp and 135 lb-ft of torque. It's important to note that both machines are capable of achieving up to 31 mpg highway in city driving conditions—even though they're not quite as efficient as some other SUVs on the market.
The Bottom Line
The Ford Escape is a better choice for most people. It has a more attractive and efficient design, a much more versatile interior, and is less expensive than the Subaru Forester. The only major downside to the Escape is that its all-wheel-drive system isn't available on every trim level—but if you're looking for an SUV with AWD and don't want to pay extra for an upgraded package, this won't be an issue.
