2022 Ford EcoSport vs. 2022 Hyundai Venue

The 2022 Ford EcoSport is an affordable sport utility vehicle that is simple to park with excellent seating and cargo space for its size. But how does it compare to the 2022 Hyundai Venue, a hatchback that is stylish with lots of infotainment and a solid warranty?

Design & Style

The Hyundai Venue has a boxy exterior with the capacity to seat five passengers. The power sunroof has been standardized for this year and it comes with sheet metal that is thoughtfully sculpted with impressive body cladding near the base.  It is made for teenagers and young adults thanks to its smaller size that enables it to fit in tight urban or university parking lots.

The Ford EcoSport is distinctive for the cutline filled interior. Like the Venue, it has a compact size which is designed for urban areas where parking space is hard to come by. Twenty one cubic feet is reserved for cargo space and it has a tailgate that side mounted with the ability to seat 5 passengers. It sits on sixteen inch wheels and has cloth upholstery with an infotainment display that is eight inches in size for those that purchase the SE variant.

Technology & Safety

The Ford EcoSport comes with modern safety features such as airbags and blind area monitoring for those that purchase the top trims. It earned a four star rating from the NHTSA, and perks within its cabin include powered seats that can be heated, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, navigation system, and a sound system from B&O.

The Hyundai Venue also earned a 4 star rating from the NHTSA. It has all the features found in the Ford EcoSport although its standard headlights were marginally rated. Perks inside its cabin include eight inch touch displays, Bluetooth, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and powered sunroof.

Performance

The Hyundai Venue is powered by an inline 4, 1.6 liter engine that can generate 121 horsepower which enables it to accelerate from zero to sixty in around ten seconds. It has a transmission which is continuously variable with moderate acceleration and numerous pulley ratios.

The Ford EcoSport has a larger engine when purchased with all-wheel drive. This allows it to transmit power to its back wheels when the ones in front have given up the grip. It comes with an inline 4 engine that can generate 166 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in about ten seconds.

The Bottom Line

Both SUVs target the same demographic and as such are similar in price, seating capacity and amenities. But the Ford EcoSport has an advantage in horsepower while the Hyundai Venue lacks adequate shoulder space in its backseat, and this combined with its marginal headlights and boomy performance on highways makes the EcoSport the winner.
