2022 Ford EcoSport vs. 2022 Nissan Kicks

The 2022 Ford EcoSport is a compact sport utility vehicle that can easily fit into tight spaces without sacrificing its cabin and cargo space. How does it compare to the 2022 Nissan Kicks, an SUV that comes with standardized safety gear, an attractive appearance and impressive touch displays?

Design & Style

The Kicks is considered Nissan’s introductory SUV, and it uses a hatchback style exterior that is free of all wheel drive. It can hold up to five occupants and its wedgy shape makes it stand out. A grille which is V shaped can be seen in front that is flanked by LEDs, and the roof pillars have been blacked out with taillights that are shaped like arrows.

The EcoSport is Ford’s introductory SUV, and is geared towards high school and university students as well as young adults. When purchased in top trim the Ford EcoSport comes with blind area monitoring, and it also offers resistance against rollover. It earned a 4 star rating from the NHTSA, and luxuries inside its cabin consists of heated frontal seats, the choice of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, navigation system and premium audio from B&O.

The 2022 Nissan Kicks also earned a 4 star rating courtesy of the NHTSA. Its headlights are lousy but it does come with blind area monitoring and adapted cruise control. Luxuries inside its cabin include a Bose sound system, leather upholstery, keyless start, satellite radio and 3 USB ports.

Performance

The Nissan Kicks is powered by an inline 4, 1.6 liter engine that can generate 122 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in ten seconds. The Ford EcoSport is powered by a turbo 3, 1 liter engine that can generate 123 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in ten seconds. However, buyers can upgrade to an inline 4 that can generate 166 horsepower which tows a maximum of 2000 pounds.

The Bottom Line

Both sport utility vehicles are evenly matched when it comes to safety and seating capacity. But the Ford EcoSport has greater horsepower, and this combined with the Kick’s sluggish transmission, stiff back seats, inadequate passing power and excessive wind noise when moving at higher speeds makes the Ford EcoSport the winner.
