The 2022 Kia Sorento has been praised for its large interior, hybrid powertrain and big touch displays. But is this enough to beat the 2022 Ford Edge, an SUV which has been praised for its standardized all-wheel drive, outstanding safety record and updated tech?

Design & Style

The Ford Edge is a crossover that is capable of holding 5 passengers. Its newest features for this year include the addition of all wheel drive along with a twelve inch touch display that can be used for infotainment. Its exterior is notable for its discreet details and conservative lines. It has an independent suspension that offers a smooth riding experience even when moving along highways or mountain passes.

The Kia Sorento comes in five different trims and can technically seat seven passengers, though two of the seats are so small they are best reserved for children. It has performance brakes which are optional along with a suspension that has been revised. The Kia Sorento is powered by a turbo 4, 2.5 liter engine that can generate 281 horsepower that can accelerate from 0 to 60 in about 8 seconds.

The Bottom Line

Aside from seating capacity, that Ford Edge outclasses the Kia Sorento in every way, with better safety credentials, horsepower and acceleration. Furthermore, the Sorento features too much hardened plastic throughout its cabin and can make excessive noise while driving which can become annoying, and this makes the Ford Edge the winner.
