2022 Ford F-150 vs. 2022 Chevrolet Silverado

The 2022 Ford F-150 is a flagship pickup with a stupendous number of configurations, outstanding power trains and highly regarded safety credentials. But what happens when it faces off against the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado, a pickup with dynamic engines, excellent safety features of its own and superb off-road capabilities?

Design & Style

The Chevrolet Silverado is full sized and distinctive for the cinder block exterior. Its latest features for this year include the addition of a 13 inch touch display, driver assistance that is hands free, and an updated cabin. The headlights are narrower and lower with a hood which dips down slightly. Its cabin features a wide horizontal expanse that is inset with rectangular displays that are seamless.

The F-150 is Ford’s and America’s bestselling pickup. It comes with a console style workstation, storage beneath its seats, large touchscreens, controls that are easier to use and a cabin covered in wood and leather. Buyers have the option of five distinct powertrains and its towing capacity is simply incredible, and there are numerous accessories that can be added such as bed lines, clamps, tie downs, and fold out style steps which connect to its tailgate.

Technology & Safety

The NHTSA loves the F-150 and gave it a perfect 5 star rating. As Ford’s preeminent pickup truck, it pulls no punches and is equipped with the auto industry’s most advanced countermeasures, which include rollover resistance, automated high beams, emergency automated brakes, parking sensors and a camera with surround view. Amenities within its cabin include powered windows and locks, rubberized floor liners, twelve inch touch display, remote start, panoramic sunroof and leather seats that can be heated with an eighteen speaker sound system from B&O.

By comparison, the Chevrolet Silverado hasn’t been extensively tested this year, and only earned a 4 star overall review on the tests that were given to it. That being said, it comes with many of the same safety features as the Ford F-150, such as activated lane control, a camera with surround view, emergency automated brakes and pedestrian detection. Amenities within its cabin include Bluetooth, keyless entry, powered windows and locks, 4 USB ports, thirteen inch touch display and two zoned climate control.

Performance

The most powerful Chevy Silverado comes with a V8 engine that can generate 420 horsepower, with the ability to tow up to 13,300 pounds, with a payload capacity of 2,280 pounds. The most powerful F-150 is the aptly named Raptor, which can generate 450 horsepower with the ability to tow 14,000 pounds with a payload capacity of 3,325 pounds.

The Bottom Line

The towing capacity and payload numbers speak for themselves; the Ford F-150 completely surpasses the Silverado across the board, and given the fact that the F-150 is also more affordable, it makes absolutely no sense to purchase the Chevrolet Silverado.
