About Amityville

Amityville is a village that is situated in the County of Suffolk in NY. Specifically, this hamlet lies in the town of Babylon and is home to about 10,000 people. Amityville is residential but for many years was an agricultural community. The area was especially famous for the production of salt hay which was used to feed cattle in the surrounding farms. The village was originally known as Huntington West but the name was eventually changed in the middle of the 18th century.
